What We Do
Moving Beyond Cancer Collaborative offers educational seminars, exercise, wellness classes and integrative oncology therapies for all those affected by cancer.
Our Mission
Our mission at Moving Beyond Cancer Collaborative is to provide accessible and affordable integrative oncology health and wellness services that encourage sustainable balance within the mind, body, and spirit of all individuals affected by a cancer diagnosis.
Why?
Exercise, during and after cancer treatment, has shown to reduce the risk of recurrence and manage side effects of treatment
Barrier: Often times, finding oncology trained personal trainers is difficult and an additional barrier is the cost for these classes.
MBCC Solution: Our trainers have advanced training and experience working with the oncology population. All classes offer modifications for those who need adjustments. All classes are complimentary and offered online or online and in person.
Integrative therapies like oncology acupuncture, massage, nutrition and skin care support patients as they navigate treatment and post treatment. Research has supported this and integrative oncology services are practiced in oncology centers like Memorial Sloan Kettering, MD Anderson, Dana Farber, to name a few.
Barrier: Finding services covered by insurance is difficult. Treatments can be costly when many times the treatment plans recommend several sessions for progress
MBCC Solution: Offer various services at sliding scale rates and scholarships
Community acupuncture $5-$40
Private room acupuncture $70-$110 Flat Rate: $90
Oncology Massage 60 minutes: $70-$125 Flat Rate: $100

“This is an amazing resource for those of us who found ourselves struggling with classes after cancer surgeries and ongoing effects. The yoga and cardio sessions that I have been attending have opened up and stimulated areas of my body that I thought were inaccessible forever. The most important benefit to me is the friendly, welcoming course leaders; they have been outstanding in their instruction and support. I have never found anything as beneficial and inclusive as this. I feel safe and in the best possible hands. Thank you!”
“The online classes during 2020 have been outstanding. Catherine’s pilates got me turned onto doing Pilates on a regular basis. Shannon’s yoga classes feel soooo good. She is an amazing instructor with a lovely heart. I also enjoyed some online seminars about care of our lymph system and complementary treatments. If you are on a healing journey I highly recommend you look into this resource...even if you aren’t in Austin. They have done a great job being accessible during the pandemic.”
“I would like to thank the MBCC for the many classes they provide. Before COVID19, I attended the Pilates Classes for many years. It really made a difference in my body. The teacher, Gladys, was so knowledgeable and caring. I was amazed at her patience with me as I needed to modify the exercises. She supported me all the way. Since COVID19, I have attended the Chair Yoga & Chair Pilates on Zoom. This was first experience on Zoom, and I was amazed how it really worked. I am happy that I am able to stay in my home to participate. Both teachers are excellent. Both classes are different, yet interconnect. I am so appreciative of these experiences. I would never be able to know how to breathe & move without their help. I really do hope they continue for a long time. I find them so helpful. I appreciate the opportunity to be part of this fantastic community group.”
